European Dance Seminar in Munich 12/13 February 2011
At the invitation of RTME it was my pleasure as Chairperson of the Examinations Authority, together with Micheal Meehan ADCRG from Limerick to conduct an open seminar in the beautiful city of Munich. The plans were detailed and in the very capable hands of Mary Sweeney and nothing was left to chance. Well done Mary for all your work and particularly your boundless energy and enthusiasm.
The participants from Israel, Poland, Germany, Holland, Italy, Czech Rep. Austria and Slovak Rep. were very hard working both in dance and in their many questions concerning all aspects of the examination system of CLRG. From Assessments and Re-Assessments, Grade examinations, Ceili dances, Traditional Sets and a beautiful modern set suitable from dancers beyond the trads, "Hurry the Jug" (which Michael taught on Sunday to very receptive teachers/dancers) to detailed explanation of aspects of the various examinations we had quite a full programme. Wow! What a pleasure to work with such an enthuiastic group of people who willingly shared and helped each other through translation or revising small motifs of the dances so that all participants could fully engage in the tasks of the seminar.
We enjoyed a meal together on Saturday night at leisure with many laughs and dance memories swopped and remembered. May we thank very much all those who were involved in taking care of us so well with regard to travel and meals.
